Dr. Douglas Farrago isn’t your average doctor. In fact, his approach to healthcare is taking modern medicine back to its roots. Recent changes in insurance coverage are impacting many local families, leaving some uninsured – and unsure of how to afford medical treatment. Dr. Farrago has a solution.
We asked Dr. Farrago how his new practice, Forest Direct Primary Care, can help:
1. What is unique about Forest Direct Primary Care?
We are the only direct pay model in the area. That means you have a direct and personal relationship with your doctor without the interference of insurance companies. Likewise, we are accepting only 600 patients as opposed to the usual caseload of 2,500 patients at a typical doctor’s office. This model allows us to provide more comprehensive, accessible, and personal medical care.
2. How does your practice differ from other doctors’ offices?
First of all, you know what your costs are going to be up front. You pay a monthly fee that covers all your office visits:
- $75 for an individual
- $125 for a couple
- $150 for a family (regardless of the size of the family)
Secondly, our labs and other services are heavily discounted, including osteopathic manipulation (which is similar to chiropractic). Also, when you need a specialist or prescription drugs, we are here to help you find the best deals. We are your advocate throughout the whole process of your care.
Thirdly, you have enhanced time with and access to me, your doctor, which does not exist in today’s model of medicine. We have same day appointments and you can call, text, or email me any time – day or night.
Lastly and most importantly, we are building direct and lifelong relationships with our patients… the way the doctor-patient relationship used to be before so many third parties got involved.
3. Why are more and more families choosing Forest Direct Primary Care?
Well, outside of being extremely affordable and accessible, it is the experience we provide for our families. Families can all come in together… no need to find a babysitter. We have a relaxed sitting area where children read, color, and play with our interactive globe while they are waiting for their family member to see me. It is a calm, friendly atmosphere where you are usually the only person in the office at the time of your appointment.
4. So you don’t accept insurance… is it still affordable?
Absolutely, and in some cases more affordable; especially for families who have high deductible plans. Remember, we are $150 regardless of the size of the family and we do not have any copays or office visit fees. We are also a great fit for families who may be part of health sharing ministries, such as Christian Healthcare Ministries or Samaritan Ministries.
5. What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 9 am -5 pm. However, I am available through text, email, and phone calls whenever patients might need me.
6. Where are you located?
We are located at 1149 Vista Park Drive, Forest, VA. We’re in the Forest Professional Park, right off Forest Road near Wyndhurst.
7. How do I contact you for more information?
Our telephone number is (434) 616-2455. You can call to get more information or you can schedule a meet & greet with me before joining the practice. You can also visit our website at www.forestdpc.com.
