1. Riverside Park
Riverside Park is ideal for an outdoor playdate. There are 2 playgrounds to choose from, including swings, slides, jungle gyms, and outdoor musical instruments. You’ll also find tennis courts, picnic shelters, outdoor grills, an old train, a boat hull, and beautiful hiking trails overlooking the James River. The sprayground (open from May 1- October 1) is a splash pad with water fountains, dumping buckets, spraying fish, and an environmentally-friendly water recycling system.

2. Yoder’s Farm
Family-owned and operated, Yoder’s Farm is located in Rustburg just 10 minutes south of the Lynchburg Regional Airport. The farm and produce store is open year-round. Pick-your-own strawberries are available in May, and pick-your-own pumpkins in October. The farm also has animals, swings, a sandbox, and picnic tables available. Seasonal activities include hayrides, cornhole, a corn maze, duck races, and a giant corn box.

3. Amazement Square
This 4-story children’s museum is packed to the brim with hands-on learning activities. A barnyard-themed play area on the 1st floor is perfect for babies and toddlers, and interactive exhibits throughout the rest of the museum feature art, music, science, exercise, and more. 4. Peaks View Park
This park has 2 playgrounds, a rock-climbing wall, jungle gyms, swings, slides, picnic tables, picnic shelters, outdoor grills, tennis courts, a frisbee golf course, walking/biking trails, and fields for soccer, softball, baseball, and more.

5. Kids Cove
Meet up with local mommas and let your little ones laugh and play at this FREE indoor playground at Thomas Road Baptist Church. There’s even a café in the church lobby where you can find coffee, fresh fruit, baked goods, salads, and sandwiches.

6. Taubman Museum of Art
Okay, so maybe it’s not in Lynchburg, but trust me, it’s worth the trip to Roanoke. The Taubman Museum of Art has the BEST kids play area you can imagine. And it’s completely FREE. Your little ones can explore music, art, puppets, costumes, geometry, architecture, and tons of other hands-on learning activities. The loft area even has arts and crafts to make and take home. For FREE. You can’t beat it.
