Swimming Lessons in Lynchburg

Do you think it’s time to enroll your little one in swimming lessons? It’s never too early – even for infants and toddlers – to learn about water safety!

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends introducing children to swimming and water safety as early as possible in order to prevent drowning, which is the second leading cause for accidental childhood death (right after automobile collision).

The Jamerson YMCA in Wyndhurst offers swimming lessons for ages 6 months to adult:

  • 6-36 months will be introduced to the water, accompanied by a parent, and learn about movement and water safety
  • 3-6 years will learn how to swim without a parent
  • 6-12 years learn swimming styles in incremental development, based on individual ability
  • Teen and adult classes focus on¬†basic to advanced swimming techniques

  1. I just called the Jamerson YMCA and their preschool Saturday lessons are booked until March! Soooo, if you are a working Mom and want to get your preschooler swim lessons you’ll have to go to the other Y locations, unless of course you don’t mind waiting until March.
